What We Believe

THE SHORT VERSION

Below is a brief overview of CityView Church's Statement of Faith. For all who are interested, the full version is here.

We believe in...

One God, who is creator and sustainer of life, one in essence yet eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; each of whom is equal in power and glory

​

Revelation. God has told us what we need to know about him through the Bible which is verbally inspired by God, and inerrant in the original writings. 

​

Creation. God created the heavens and the earth, and mankind was created in the image of God.  Mankind is not the product of an evolutionary process and is uniquely created to have a relationship with God.  We believe God created mankind male and female, and that marriage is to be between one man and one woman.

The Fall. The world is not right because of sin.  All of mankind, though created in the image of God, is broken and our sin separates us from God.

​

Redemption. God loves people so much, he sent his Son to die in our place.  We enter into right relationship with God when we turn to Jesus and believe his death and resurrection are enough to redeem us.

​

Community. When we receive Christ, it is so much more than just an independent thing.  He places us into his family, the Church.

​

Power. God has not left us alone to figure out the Christian life.  His Holy Spirit guides us and empowers us.

​

Restoration. Jesus Christ will return to earth as judge, and he will reign forevermore over a new heaven and earth.
